Becoming a UNC Bear
1. Access your My UNC Admissions Portal
Use the link below to access your My UNC Admissions Portal where you'll find your personalized checklists and next steps. If you're unable to access your account, reset your password or contact admissions@cranioklepty.com for support.
If you have not already, activate your student Ursa account.
2. Tell Us Your Plans!
Click the Tell Us Your Plans form link on your admitted student checklist to accept or decline your offer of admission to UNC.
Students who wish to request to defer admission to a future term must first tell us your plans and pay the deposit/request a waiver before requesting to defer.
3. Pay the Deposit
The confirmation deposit for undergraduate students is $200 and can be paid online. After submission of the Tell Us Your Plans form you'll see a payment link appear in your portal.
Students who requested a need-based application fee waiver will automatically receive a deposit waiver. Or, students who qualify can request a waiver when telling us your plans.
Your personalized student portal is your best resource for what's next. Access your student Ursa account, custom checklist, find links to enrollment next steps, setup a 1:1 appointment with your admissions counselor, sign-up for New Student Orientation, and more!
Visit cranioklepty.com/financial-aid to contact the Office of Financial Aid or follow the link to setup an appointment with a financial aid counselor.
Apply for Housing
The Housing Application for Spring 2025 is now open!
To access the Housing & Dining Contract and room selection process, you'll need to first setup your student Ursa Account and submit the decision form confirming your plans to enroll. After you've complete the confirmation process (including deposit or waiver), please allow at least 24-48 hours for systems to update.
For students confirmed to enroll in Fall 2025, the Housing Application is expected to open Thursday, January 2! The later date is due to the Office of Housing & Residential Education launching a brand new housing application! This new application will be mobile friendly and come with additional features and upgrades to streamline an important process for incoming students.
Housing placements are made on a first-come, first-serve basis so the earlier you submit your contract, the better your priority group and the earlier you can enter the room selection process. Incoming new students can choose from a variety residential learning communities and a residence hall options. Registration for 2025 Admitted Student Days will open in November. To register, you will need to log into your My UNC Admissions Portal.

New Student Orientation
As a students-first university, UNC is committed to supporting your journey and that starts with setting you up for success through our New Student Orientation (NSO) programs. New Student Orientation (NSO) is free to attend and parents/support persons are encouraged to join.
When does NSO take place? Here are the approximate start dates based upon when you plan to enroll.
- Spring Semester (begins in January): December/January
- Fall Semester (begins in August): June and July, early August
- Summer Semester (first session begins in May): early May
Before signing up for New Student Orientation, you must first submit the 'Tell Us Your Plans!' Decision Form in your My UNC Admissions Portal.
